Zac Schmidt is an active musician in the greater Chattanooga area. Having a passion for music education Schmidt works in and with many middle and high school band programs, providing not only instruction in trumpet but working with ensembles as a whole. His trumpet studio caters to students of all ages and skill levels, from first-year beginners to advancing players preparing to study music at the university level. Zac is a member of The Jericho Brass Band, Chattanooga’s own British style brass band where he is a member of the Solo Cornet section and serves on the board of directors.
Having studied in the University of Tennessee system, Schmidt holds a Bachelor of Music Education from the university campus in Chattanooga. Zac is a member of the International Trumpet Guild (ITG), the National Association for Music Education (NAfME), and the North American Brass Band Association (NABBA).
Schmidt’s teaching style is process driven: He meets the student at their current abilities, sets specific goals in both short and long term, and then develops a strategic path on how to get there.
As a teacher, Schmidt wants students to not only progress at their instrument, but to learn dedication, persistence, and a lifelong love of music. Students can expect to discover many aspects of trumpet playing and musicianship. He strives to build strong fundamental abilities as well as develop performance practices in solo and ensemble settings.
When not performing or teaching, Schmidt can be found in the thriving town of Hixson spending time with his wife, Karen, and son, Ethan, and their rescue dog, Connor.
