Joseph is excited to join Cadek Conservatory of Music. He began playing tuba at Hixson Middle School in 6th grade, following in the footsteps of his older brother and sister. In 7th grade he picked up his sister's First Act guitar and started teaching himself classic rock songs. Since then, Joseph has had formal training on classical guitar under Adam Hale at CCA and jazz guitar under Stephen Brannen at UTC, while still pursuing his interest in rock and metal on his own. He started his first rock band in high school, and has continued to perform for local venues and parties ever since.
Joseph studied tuba under Brent Alverson at McCallie and Dr. Kenyon Wilson at UTC. He has performed with the All East Junior and Senior Clinics, the UTC Marching Mocs as a sousaphonist and the drum major, the UTC Wind Ensemble, and the UTC Symphony Orchestra
as a member and a soloist. He has also performed for local weddings and events, including the Chambliss Center for Children Mardi Gras Parade and UTC’s commencement ceremonies.
Joseph also has been an educator for R.I.S.E. Chattanooga, the Creative Arts Guild, local marching band camps, and private lessons. He received his Bachelor of Music in Education from UTC in the spring of 2020. Music is a means to express emotions and ideas without the need to simply describe them. Music should emulate some feeling in the listener, intentionally or unintentionally. An emphasis on shaping the listener's experience is key to expressing intended emotions and ideas.
When not performing or teaching, Joseph likes to spend time at home with his cat, Eamon. He also enjoys spending time with his friends and family whenever he can, playing disc golf or just enjoying the outdoors.
